Dr Les Dolega is a Senior Lecturer in Geography and Planning at the University of Liverpool, specialising in quantitative human geography, retail geography, and spatial analysis.

His research focuses on:

  • Retail centre performance and evolution

  • Town centres and high streets

  • Consumer behaviour and retail resilience

  • Spatial inequalities and demographic change

  • Advanced spatial and quantitative methods

He completed his PhD at the University of Southampton (2009–2012), researching the impact of the 2008–09 economic crisis on UK town centres.

Since joining Liverpool in 2016, he has led and contributed to multiple funded research projects examining:

  • Retail resilience and the impact of e-commerce

  • Town centre boundary delineation

  • Retail performance measurement

  • Spatial inequalities and ageing populations

  • Consumer and retail data analytics

He currently serves as:

  • Principal Investigator on a Nuffield-funded project examining ageing and spatial inequalities in England

  • Co-Investigator on several Consumer Data Research Centre projects

  • PhD supervisor for research on footfall, retail sales, and retail agglomerations

  • Assessment Officer for Geography
